A record crowd gathered on the evening of May 10, 2013 at the Ritz Carlton in White Plains to attend the “Boardwalk Bound” annual spring gala, which raised nearly $200,000 for the Westchester Children’s Museum (WCM).  For the first time, County Executive Rob Astorino attended to express publicly his support of the museum’s effort to open at Playland.  Also in attendance were a number of high profile supporters including Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett; Oscar Flores on behalf of President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; District Attorney Janet DiFiore; New Rochelle Mayor Naom Bramson; Legislator Catherine Borgia; Westchester County Association President Bill Mooney; Sustainable Playland President Kim Morque; and Legislator Judy Myers, a fierce advocate of WCM who heavily assisted in its lease approval for a home at Playland’s North Bathhouse.

Honored that night were Lynn and Ray Quartararo of Rye, NY for their years of commitment to and support of the museum.  Helen Williams, mother of actress and Advisory Board member Vanessa Williams, presented the Milton A. Williams, Jr. Scholars in Education Award to Dr. Barbara Peters, Superintendent of the Elmsford School District. The evening's emcee, Jené Luciani, TV personality, author, and Westchester resident, kept guests entertained.
