James Webb Telescope Launch Celebration

  • Museum Address 100 Playland Parkway Rye, NY, 10580 (map)

The Westchester Children’s Museum is delighted to announce that it has been selected by NASA to be one of 500 sites across the country to celebrate the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, the largest, most powerful and complex telescope ever built and launched into space. The Museum was selected through a competitive proposal process administered by the NASA/National Informal STEM Education Network.

To celebrate the launch of the Telescope, the Westchester Children’s Museum has transformed its 5,000 square foot MakerSpace into an outer space STEAM experience leading up to a special day of celebration on November 13, with free activities and challenges all day.

As a special treat, in the early afternoon (1:00pm - 3:00pm) we will be joined out on the Boardwalk by the Westchester Astronomers Association, who plan to have special sun-viewing telescopes to help us view the sun safely, as well as the day moon if it is visible.

For all ages!

Don’t forget to journey to outer space in our MakerSpace!
