An interactive exhibition designed for children and their grown-ups to learn about healthy choices for their bodies, bellies, and brains.

Fit City is sponsored by and co-developed with input from White Plains Hospital.

Bodies: Our Training Facility features two interactive games to encourage a healthier lifestyle. Stretch & Flex emphasizes the significance of flexibility, while Pump it Up draws inspiration from arcade games and measures healthy heart rates as visitors try to achieve a high score.

Bellies: At Spoonful of Sugar Grocery, visitors can learn about healthy nutrition and make informed choices about sugar content at the fun grocery self-checkout.

Brains: Visit Mindball Park to challenge mental abilities by controlling a metal ball using EEG technology. Visitors can push their limits and improve their cognitive skills with a calm, focused brain.

Fit City promotes various skills gained through playful learning, encouraging Cause and Effect, Collaboration, Communication, Color/pattern Identification, Creativity and Flexible Thinking, Dramatic Play, Executive Function, Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Hand-Eye Coordination, Imagination, Literacy, Math, Science Process Skills, Sensory Motor Skills, Spatial Awareness, and Technology.

Programs

In May, to celebrate the launch of this exhibition, the Museum will host special editions of the popular Daily Drop-In Programs that aim to encourage children to explore and learn about their bodies, bellies, and brains in a fun and engaging way.

  • Music and Movement, everyday 11am & 3pm, will teach children about their body parts through action songs and puppets, engaging them about their feelings.

  • Story Time, everyday 10am & 4pm, will feature books that inspire a lifelong love for learning and caring for their physical and emotional well-being.
