Today's Science Sunday Theme: What is a Truss?
Drop in for hands-on science programs every second Sunday of the month. Best for ages 6-10.
Today we explore Trusses. You may not notice them, but they can be spotted in many places. So what is a truss? This building activity answers that question by introducing concepts of force, shapes and their strength, and load, related to building the strongest type of structure – a Truss. Young engineers will build their own truss and test their load bearing capacity.
Science Sunday programs focus on simple interactions that spark a child’s imagination and lead to the discovery and understanding of basic principles related to science, technology, engineering, and math. While engaging for all, the programs fit best for our elementary school-aged visitors. Generously sponsored by Con Edison
Two sessions, 11:30am and 1:30pm
